Who owns Texas Roadhouse? TXRH shareholders

The Texas brand began in Indiana and reports from Kentucky. Public shareholders own the parent, while 100 of its 832 restaurants were franchised in June 2026.

Texas Roadhouse is based in Louisville, Kentucky. Its publicly traded parent, Texas Roadhouse, Inc., trades on Nasdaq as TXRH and belongs to its shareholders. Kent Taylor opened the first restaurant across the Ohio River in Clarksville, Indiana, in 1993. Company fact sheet, investor FAQ.

The proxy names the biggest shareholders, and the operating report shows which restaurants the company runs itself. I read both, because a franchised Texas Roadhouse belongs to its franchisee while a company restaurant belongs to TXRH shareholders.

The proxy names Vanguard and BlackRock as large holders

The 2026 proxy, pages 41–42, shows Vanguard at 9.6%, BlackRock at 9.3%, and the 19-person director-and-executive group at 0.5%. The table carries the March 20 snapshot and the older institutional filing dates behind it.

The June network contained 832 restaurants

The June 30 operating report counted 732 company restaurants and 100 franchises. Franchises were about 12% of the system. The Texas Roadhouse brand’s 93 franchise locations included 31 domestic and 62 in the international category, which includes a U.S. territory.
